We are proud to announce that Prof. Anna Pasternak and Dr. Weronika Kotkowiak, and their collaborators have received the Award of the Minister of Education and Science for significant achievements in science.
The core of the awarded research team consists of prof. Anna Pasternak and Dr. Weronika Kotkowiak, other awarded scientists are Carolina Roxo, Dr, Jolanta Lisowiec-Wachnicka, Prof. Jesper Wengel, Dr. Jakub Grynda, Prof. Ryszard Kierzek, Dr. Tomasz Czapik and Dr. Chris J. Scotton.
In recent years, the team has studied hundreds of variants of DNA G-quadruplexes chemically modified with unnatural nucleosides, successfully determining the types of therapeutically beneficial modifications and the locations where the studied modifications have the potential to improve thermodynamic and biological properties. Importantly, these studies led to the discovery of new aptamer variants with improved anticoagulant and anticancer properties.
Congratulations!
