A team of scientists from IBCH PAS, in cooperation with Polish companies, created a test to differentiate COVID-19 and influenza – MediPAN-COVID + Flu. The test was consulted at every stage of its development with experts from the National Institute of Public Health – National Institute of Hygiene.

MediPAN-COVID + Flu is a very fast and reliable tool that allows you to distinguish whether the tested patient is infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus or the influenza virus, and allows the detection of both viruses regardless of their variants. Despite the emerging mutations, the test is able to detect influenza A and B virus, pandemic influenza, but, very importantly, also various genetic variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, including the VUI 202012/01 variant described in recent days, known as the English mutation.

MediPAN-COVID + Flu is an integrated genetic test that detects two viral SARS-CoV-2 genes, influenza A and B, in one reaction. It maintains the reliability of virus detection reactions (> 99%) and is designed to avoid the sites in the virus where the greatest number of mutations occurs. The MediPAN-COVID + Flu test is aimed at the growing epidemic threat and the emergence of new mutations of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the increasingly common coexisting COVID-19 infections and influenza.
