Success of IBCH PAS in the OPUS 26 LAP competition

We are pleased to announce that funding has been awarded for the project “At the dawn of Central European statehood on the example of the Czechia and Poland. Dynasties – elites – societies (late 9th – 11th century), led by Prof. Marek Figlerowicz.

The research project will be carried out in a consortium with the Museum of the First Piasts at Lednica, the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan and the Archaeological Museum in Poznan, and in cooperation with the University of Pardubice.

Within the framework of the project, multidimensional and interdisciplinary research will be conducted on populations inhabiting areas crucial for the formation of Polish and Czech statehood. The project’s results will allow for the characterization of ancient populations living in the areas of present-day Poland and the Czech Republic in terms of their appearance, dietary habits, general health, and the social structure of their populations. More importantly, the project will verify hypotheses regarding the origin of individuals, the genetic diversity of the entire population, and the mutual interactions of neighboring societies.
