On October 19, 2020, the 16th Forum Rynku Zdrowia was held, during which the laureates of Portrety Polskiej Medycyny 2020 were announced. These distinctions are awarded each year by the Rynek Zdrowia portal. This year’s gala, due to the epidemic, was held online.

In previous editions of the Forum Rynku Zdrowia, awards were given to eminent doctors, health care managers and other figures whose actions have contributed in a special way to improve the functionality of the health care system. Nominations were submitted by journalists from Rynek Zdrowia, who then democratically selected the winners in five categories.

The development of the first Polish genetic test for the detection of coronavirus by the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry was recognized as this year’s Wydarzenie Rynku Zdrowia. This event was considered even more significant as the implementation of the Polish SARS-CoV-2 test is an ideal example of a short path from the research stage to the commercialization of a new solution.
