A team of scientists consisting of Dr. Agata Tyczewska (Laboratory of Model Animal Organisms), Prof. Tomasz Twardowski and Dr. Ewa Woźniak-Gientka (Bioeconomy and Sustainable Development Team) published an article “Agricultural biotechnology for sustainable food security” in a special issue of Trends in Biotechnology on the occasion of its 40th anniversary (21.942 IF).

The article presents the problems related to achieving food security and sustainable development in the agriculture of the European Union, in the light of the Sustainable Development Goals and the European Green Deal, taking into account threats such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the armed conflict in Eastern Europe. The potential of plant biotechnology and systems based on artificial intelligence in ensuring food security of the human population was also discussed.
