On January 5, 2024, the Bizhan Sharopov Scholarship was awarded for the first time, in memory of the young Ukrainian scientist and soldier Bizhan Sharopov, who died in the war in Ukraine. The purpose of the program is to support the mobility of Ukrainian PhD students in biology by funding internship in a foreign research institution. The winner of the 2023-2024 edition is Viktoria Plygun, a PhD student at the Faculty of Biology of the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (NaUKMA) in Kiev, who will undertake a three-month research internship at the Department of Plant Genomics, IBCH PAS.
