Order of Polonia Restituta for Prof. Zofia Gdaniec

We are proud to announce that the President of the Republic of Poland has awarded Prof. Zofia Gdaniec the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for her outstanding contributions to the development of chemical sciences, her achievements in scientific research, and her promotion of Polish scientific ideas worldwide.

Prof. Zofia Gdaniec joined the Institute in 1991. She is a world-renowned expert in the field of nucleic acid chemistry and the application of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to the study of these compounds. At IBCH PAS, she headed the Department of Biomolecular NMR for many years, served as a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute, and trained a young generation of exceptional chemists specializing in the study of various types of compounds using NMR methods. Her scientific interests focus on interactions between bases in RNA and DNA structures, RNA and RNA/DNA duplexes, and G-quadruplex structures occurring in RNA and DNA molecules.

Prof. Gdaniec is the author of more than 90 scientific articles published in internationally renowned journals indexed in the Web of Science, with over 1,600 citations. Her publications appear in prestigious journals such as Nature Communications, Nucleic Acids Research, Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences, RNA, Chemistry, Scientific Reports, Biochemistry, Journal of Molecular Biology, European Journal of Biochemistry, and Journal of Molecular Structure. Some of these works have been produced in collaboration with distinguished international research centers.

Congratulations!
