For the twenty-first time, the City of Poznań has awarded prizes for the best doctoral and master’s theses defended at scientific institutions in Poznań. Each year, the competition is open to doctoral and master’s theses in scientific fields and disciplines that may contribute to the functioning, development, or promotion of Poznań as a strong academic center. This year, 105 theses were submitted: 44 doctoral and 61 master’s theses. Awards were granted to thirteen young researchers.
Among the awardees was a scientist from our Institute, Dr. Angelika Andrzejewska-Romanowska. She was recognized for her doctoral dissertation entitled “Characterization of structural and functional dynamics of RNA genomes of active LTR retrotransposons”, completed under the supervision of Katarzyna Pachulska-Wieczorek, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof.
Dr. Angelika Andrzejewska-Romanowska’s dissertation makes an important contribution to the understanding of RNA molecule structure and the biology of retroelements. The work is interdisciplinary in nature and exemplifies innovative approaches and the selection of compelling research problems. Its subject matter aligns with the latest global trends in RNA property research.
The results were officially announced on Wednesday, April 16, in the White Hall of the Poznań City Hall. The awards were presented by Grzegorz Ganowicz, Chairman of the City Council, and Mariusz Wiśniewski, Deputy Mayor of Poznań.
