Grant for genome editing studies on sickle cell disease

We are pleased to announce that Marta Olejniczak, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof., has joined the international consortium EDITSCD and has been awarded funding to carry out a grant within the Hop-on initiative, under the Horizon Europe framework program. The team led by Prof. Olejniczak will be conducting a project entitled “Assessing efficacy and safety of genome EDITing approaches for Sickle Cell Disease” (https://editscd.eu/).

Within EDITSCD, research on the pathophysiology of sickle cell anemia, one of the most common monogenic diseases in Europe, is being conducted. The project also involves optimizing the effectiveness of various genome editing approaches and analyzing the safety of using such methods, which may lay the groundwork for developing a new gene therapy strategy for treating this severe disease.

Sincere congratulations and best wishes for success!
