The Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) has announced the results of this year’s Summer Fellowships, which support short-term scientific internships in research laboratories across Europe. Out of numerous applications from across the continent, ten outstanding projects were selected. Their authors will have the opportunity to carry out research in laboratories of their choice in FEBS-associated countries.
We are pleased to announce that one of this year’s fellowship recipients is Grażyna Adamek from the Department of Neuronal Cell Biology. The two-month fellowship will allow her to pursue research on the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration. Her work will utilize cutting-edge, multimodal single-cell data analysis based on the nano-CUT&Tag method. Ms. Adamek will conduct her research in the laboratory of Prof. Fabian Theis at the Institute of Computational Biology, Helmholtz Zentrum München in Germany. Theis’s team is a global leader in multiomic single-cell data analysis and is known for developing innovative bioinformatics tools used by researchers worldwide. The aim of Ms. Adamek’s project is to characterize epigenetic changes that may underlie the differential vulnerability of Purkinje neuron subtypes in spinocerebellar ataxias. The results of her research will contribute to a deeper understanding of selective neuronal vulnerability and may help inform future therapeutic strategies aimed at protecting susceptible neurons.
Congratulations and best wishes for continued success!
