We are delighted and proud to announce that Dr. hab. Anna Pasternak has been conferred with the title of professor in the field of natural sciences, in the discipline of chemical sciences, by the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, in his decision dated August 4, 2023.
Since 2016, Professor Anna Pasternak has held the position of Head of the Department of Nucleic Acid Bioengineering, where she conducts research on modified nucleosides and oligonucleotides, as well as structural motifs such as G-quadruplexes, triplexes, and aptamers. The research conducted by Prof. Pasternak’s team encompasses the chemical synthesis and thermodynamics of nucleic acids, as well as the design of molecular tools based on nucleic acids and the testing of their biological applications. Among Prof. Pasternak’s notable achievements are investigations into the impact of the structure of short nucleic acid molecules on their biological activity, the identification of correlations between structural features and the anticancer properties of guanosine-rich oligonucleotides, and the development of the concept of modified thrombin-binding aptamers with enhanced anticoagulant potential.
Sincere congratulations and best wishes for every success in your scientific work!
