On May the 5th our institute was visited by high school students from Swarzędz. During the visit the students attended a short lecture on sequencing DNA and RNA and on how genetic mutations impact cell and organism functions. Thereafter the students performed experiments digesting plasmid DNA with a few restriction enzymes and visualized the products of these reactions using agarose gel electrophoresis. Classes for them were prepared and conducted by Arkadiusz Kajdasz PhD from the Department of RNA Metabolism. For most of the students, it was their first contact with a molecular biology laboratory. This experience undoubtedly complemented the knowledge gained in biology lessons. We hope that students will gladly return to us, especially since they obtained perfect results in their experiment.
