Dr. Paweł Świtoński in the FEBS Scholarship Committee

On July 12–13, this year, a meeting of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) Council took place in Tours, France, during which Dr. Paweł Świtoński from our Institute was elected to the FEBS Scholarship Committee.

Paweł Świtoński obtained his Ph.D. degree at the IBCH PAS in 2015. During his doctoral studies, he worked on creating and characterizing novel mouse models of spinocerebellar ataxia type 3. Following his Ph.D., he pursued postdoctoral training at the Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine, University of California, San Diego, USA (2016–2017), the Center for Neurodegeneration & Neurotherapeutics, Duke University, Durham, USA (2017–2020), and the University of California, Irvine, USA (2020–2021). During his training, Dr. Paweł Świtoński demonstrated, among others, the impact of epigenetic dysregulation on DNA repair genes in spinocerebellar ataxia type 7 (SCA7). Currently, at the IBCH PAS, he focuses on studying the molecular and cellular mechanisms responsible for the selective vulnerability of Purkinje cells in inherited ataxias. He is a member of the Polish Biochemical Society and the National Ataxia Foundation (USA).
