A new review article authored by researchers from the Laboratory of Model Invertebrate Organisms at IBCH PAS has been published in the renowned journal WIREs RNA. The paper is a collaborative effort by Kamilla Grzywacz, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof., MSc Alicja Rzepczak, MSc Kinga Plawgo, Daria Sobańska, PhD and the lab’s head, Agata Tyczewska, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof.
Titled “tRNA-Derived Fragments in Age-Related Diseases: A Systematic Review”, the publication provides a comprehensive overview of existing research on tRNA-derived fragments (tDRs) and their role in the development of chronic diseases associated with aging. The authors present current methodologies used to analyze tDRs and explore their potential regulatory functions. The review also highlights key challenges in the field, such as inconsistent naming conventions, narrow research focus on specific mechanisms, and the need for more refined analytical tools. The insights presented in this article could contribute to the future identification of biomarkers for age-related diseases.
