The scientific conference Nucleid Acids in Resonance (NAIR 2026), held last week at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań, brought together researchers working on nucleic acids, NMR spectroscopy and structural biology. The event provided a forum for the exchange of experiences and the presentation of the latest research findings.

The first session was devoted to the applications of NMR methods in the structural studies of nucleic acids and biological systems, covering,  inter alia, the dynamics of RNA and DNA and the analysis of biomolecular interactions. A special moment of the conference was the presentation of a medal of recognition and gratitude to Prof. Zofia Gdaniec for her many years of service to the Institute. The award was presented by the Director of the IBCH PAS, Luiza Handschuh, PhD, Prof. IBCH PAS. During the event, Prof. Gdaniec’s long-standing and highly significant contribution to the development of NMR methods at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences was highlighted, as well as her role as a valued researcher and mentor who has supported and inspired younger scientists over the years.

The final session focused on G-quadruplexes – nucleic acid structures of significant biological importance and therapeutic potential. The session opened with a lecture by Prof. Janez Plavec (Slovenian NMR Centre, National Institute of Chemistry, Ljubljana, Slovenia).

The conference provided an opportunity for inspiring discussions and brought together the scientific community to address current challenges in structural biology.
