145th Plenary Meeting of the IBCH PAS Scientific Council

On 1 July 2026, the 145th plenary meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry PAS was held.

During the meeting, the Chair of the Council, Prof. Marek Figlerowicz, awarded habilitation diplomas to Katarzyna Klonowska, PhD, DSc, and Witold Andrałojć, PhD, DSc. The Council also gave a positive opinion on their appointments to the positions of Institute Professor.

The Council reviewed the Institute’s annual reporting session, which took place in May this year. The summary concluded with a presentation by Prof. Piotr Kozłowski from the Department of Molecular Genetics, whose research team received the Director’s Award during the session for the best experimental research paper published in 2025. The award recognized the team’s work on the Whole-miRNome Sequencing (WMS) platform.

The Council also endorsed the application for a Minister of Higher Education award for scientific achievements for Prof. Kozłowski’s research team.

The results of the evaluation of the Young Leader Departments, conducted in April this year, were also presented and discussed.

During the meeting, the Scientific Council conferred the doctoral degree upon Anastasia Zaremba, MSc. It also appointed reviewers for the doctoral proceedings of Katarzyna Woźniak, MSc, Weronika Pawlik, MSc, Amadeusz Woś, MSc, Arvind Srinivasan, MSc, and Ha-Linh Tran, MSc. In addition, the Council appointed a doctoral supervisor for a Doctoral School student, Ishminder Dhamrait, and approved changes of supervisors in the doctoral proceedings of Amadeusz Woś, MSc, Marcin Drzewiecki, MSc, and Maciej Nowak, MSc.

The Council also adopted new regulations governing the evaluation of research staff.

The next meeting of the IBCH PAS Scientific Council is scheduled for September 2026.
