Excerpts from the justification:
In the very beginning of an epidemic threat, both in Poland and abroad, the team of the above-mentioned scientists of IBCH PAS took quick and effective measures that allowed to significantly support the national diagnostics towards COVID-19. A voluntary Viral Support Group was formed. The participation of IBCH PAS in the diagnostic campaign had an impact not only on the life and health of many people in a difficult time for Poland, but also became an example for other academic institutions in Poland. The team’s activities led to the development and production of Polish tests for SARS-CoV-2. Team members were not only the originators, but also directly participated in the design, synthesis and optimization of the tests and their implementation into production. They coordinated the work in the laboratory, talked with entrepreneurs and obtained funds that allowed to finance the research and finalize the implementation.
