Dr. Katarzyna Klonowska awarded a scholarship from the L’ORÉAL-UNESCO for Women and Science 2024 program

On November 20, 2024, during a gala organized in Warsaw, Dr. Katarzyna Klonowska was awarded the prestigious scholarship of the L’ORÉAL-UNESCO For Women and Science 2024 program.

Scholarships in the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women and Science program have been awarded since 2001 to outstanding Polish women scientists working in the field of broadly understood life sciences.

Katarzyna Klonowska was awarded in the highest category of habilitation scholarships for her outstanding achievements and research program entitled “Ultrasensitive profiling revealing the hidden landscape of mutations driving tumorigenesis”.

She defended her doctoral thesis at our Institute in 2017, then completed a 5-year research internship at Harvard Medical School, and currently leads the Department of Cancer Genetics. She is probably the youngest head of a research department in Poland.

Dr. Katarzyna Klonowska conducts research in the field of cancer genetics and the genetics of rare diseases. The results of her research were described in over 20 articles that were published in prestigious journals.
