During the ceremony, Dr. Ireneusz Stolarek delivered a lecture titled “Genetic history of East-Central Europe in the first millennium of our era”. The highlight of the event was the ribbon-cutting ceremony, performed by the Director of the Institute, Luiza Handschuh, PhD, DSc, Assoc. The invited guests had the opportunity to tour the villa, which now serves as a modern scientific centre equipped with state-of-the-art research laboratories and spaces for popularising science. The building houses research laboratories that have been flourishing at the Institute for years in the fields of molecular biology, bioimaging, genomics, and archaeogenomics, including a laboratory for the analysis of fossil DNA. The centre will be a place not only for scientists but also for the citizens of Poznan. Educational activities are planned, as well as initiatives to promote the latest scientific developments.
