International JPND project at IBCH PAS

One of three research projects with the participation of Polish scientists that received funding in the competition “Large-scale analysis of OMICS data for drug-target finding in neurodegenerative diseases”, organized by the JPND network (EU Joint Program – Neurodegenerative Disease Research) will be implemented at IBCH PAS.

As part of the project “MyRIAD: (Micro)RNA and informatics approaches for diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia”, the potential of using microRNAs (small non-coding RNAs) as non-invasive biomarkers of neurodegenerative diseases will be investigated, and additionally, new therapeutic targets, genes involved in the process of neurodegeneration, will be identified.

The leader of the team from IBCH PAS is Dr. Agnieszka Fiszer. The project coordinator is Dr. Katarzyna Goljanek-Whysall (University of Galway, Ireland), and the other partners are Dr. Ali Cakmak (Istanbul Technical University, Turkey), Dr. Roberta Ghidoni (IRCCS Istituto Centro San Giovanni di Dio, Italy), and Dr. Leo Quinlan (University of Galway, Ireland). The implementation of the 3-year project will start in spring 2024.
