We are pleased to inform you that, as part of the cooperation between the Polish Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ms. Kateryna Baidakova is undertaking a one-month scientific internship at our Institute.
The scientist works at the Palladin Institute of Biochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the Department of Protein Structure and Function. Her scientific interests include the study of fibrin polymerization mechanisms and the construction of a three-dimensional fibrin network, which forms the basis of a blood clot. She also focuses on identifying low-molecular-weight inhibitors of fibrin polymerization and platelet aggregation, developing immunodiagnostic test systems for early diagnosis of thrombosis risk and monitoring the effectiveness of anticoagulant therapy, as well as on creating highly effective hemostatic agents. The results of her research have been presented at national and international conferences and published in scientific journals.
Her mentor at the IBCH PAS is Anna Urbanowicz, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof., Head of the Laboratory of Protein Engineering. The scientist chose Poland to expand her professional horizons. “I hope that the experience gained at the IBCH PAS will allow me to further pursue my scientific career. I also want to establish international contacts and improve my foreign language skills”, says Kateryna Baidakova.
We wish her a fruitful internship and much success!
