We invite you to the next lecture in the series ‘From pixels to algorithms: the history and challenges of the digital world’, organised as part of the ‘Science on the Organic Work Trail 2.0’ project.

Lecture title: “The Butterfly E-ffect. How a small thing can change everything”

Speaker: Bartosz Walter, PhD, Eng.

Nothing is certain or predictable anymore.

Sometimes the flutter of a butterfly’s wings can trigger a hurricane on the other side of the world. At other times, a change in a seemingly insignificant parameter can determine the success or failure of a mission to Mars, the construction of a new supercomputer… or mark the beginning of a major catastrophe.

Join us for a fascinating journey through the history of modern computer science, its triumphs and setbacks in the face of reality, human nature and sheer chance.

The lecture will take place on 2 October at 5.00 pm at the Palace in Turew.

Free admission!
