We are pleased to announce that the ECBiG (European Center for Bioinformatics and Genomics) project – MOSAIC VISION X –has received funding under Action 2.4 Research Infrastructure for a Modern Economy of the European Funds for a Smart Economy Programme!
Furthermore, the project was among the three highest-ranked proposals.
The project leader is Dr. Ireneusz Stolarek; his deputy from the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IBCH PAS) is Dr. Natalia Koralewska (Head of the Cell and Tissue Culture Laboratory), while the project manager on the PCSS side is Tomasz Piontek (Head of the Applications Division).
ECBiG-MOSAIC VISION X marks the next phase in the expansion of the infrastructure of the European Center for Bioinformatics and Genomics (ECBiG), coordinated by Prof. Marek Figlerowicz.
Project value: 76,227,460.24 PLN
Amount of funding: 55,264,896.22 PLN.
Implementation period: 2027–2029.
The main objective of the ECBiG-MOSAIC VISION X project is to create a unique, open research infrastructure for molecular mapping and in vivo RNA sequencing.
The project’s vision is based on a paradigm in which automated microscopy platforms (smart microscopy) function as in situ nucleic acid sequencers, enabling the analysis of the molecular map of cells without losing their spatial tissue context. The research infrastructure developed in the project will integrate devices and technologies enabling: (i) spatial, in situ measurement of RNA expression at the cellular and subcellular resolution using expansion microscopy, (ii) non-optical reconstruction of three-dimensional molecular maps of tissues through nucleic acid sequencing (DNA microscopy), (iii) in vivo RNA sequencing with single-cell resolution (Live-seq), (iv) analysis and visualization of large-scale imaging data.
The project is being carried out independently by the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the affiliated Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center.
Domino Computer Jarosław Myśliński is providing an in-kind contribution to the project.
