Prof. Elzbieta Kierzek’s project “Finding small molecule inhibitors targeting SARS-CoV-2 RNA” received funding in the ISIDORe EU-OpenScreen call. As part of the project, high-throughput screening will be carried out on the library of 100,000 small molecules [European Chemical Biology Library (ECBL)] at the Helmholtz-Centre for Infection Research – Braunschweig (Germany). Selected small molecules will be tested for inhibitory activity on the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the BSL3 laboratory. The aim of the research is to find effective SARS-CoV-2 replication inhibitors that could be potential drugs for COVID-19.
