International cooperation in practice – a summary of the PROM project

Over the past year, the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences has been implementing the “PROM – Short-term academic exchange” project, organised by the NAWA – Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange and funded by the European Funds for Social Development.

Running from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026, the project aimed to strengthen the internationalization of IBCH PAS through short-term academic exchanges, creating opportunities for students, PhD candidates, researchers and academic staff to learn, collaborate and share knowledge across institutions and countries.

What can one year of international exchange achieve?

65 participants in total:

  • 36 participants from IBCH PAS, including 23 PhD students and 13 research and technical staff
  • 29 international participants, including 18 students, 10 PhD students and 1 researcher

A wide range of academic mobility activities:

  • 35 study visits, including 29 international guests at IBCH PAS and 6 visits by our staff abroad
  • 2 research internships (30 days) for our PhD students
  • 13 conference participations
  • 8 courses
  • 7 winter and summer schools

Beyond the numbers, the project provided opportunities to build international connections, gain new research experience, exchange knowledge and develop professional skills.

We are proud to have contributed to creating a more international and collaborative research environment at IBCH PAS!

A big thank you to all participants, host institutions and colleagues who made these exchanges possible!
