Prime Minister’s Award for a researcher from IBCH PAS

We are pleased to announce that Monika Piwecka, PhD, DSc, from the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry PAS, is among the laureates of the 33rd edition of the Prime Minister’s Awards.

The awards recognize outstanding achievements in scientific activity, as well as outstanding doctoral and habilitation dissertations. This year, 44 individuals and one research team were honoured.

Monika Piwecka, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof., received the award for achievements forming the basis for the conferral of her habilitation degree. Her habilitation thesis, entitled Regulation of gene expression at RNA level in the brain and pathologies of the central nervous system (biological sciences), was recognized for contributing to a better understanding of the functions of circular RNAs (circRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) in neuronal and glial cell biology, as well as to the identification of miRNAs as biomarkers in gliomas.
